“The best time to plant a tree was always 20 years ago. The second best time is always today.” *
So, what’ll it be? Something flowery or something evergreen? A treat for yourself or a living memorial for all to enjoy? Now that the nurseries and garden centers are stocking up for the season there is no excuse for not finding the perfect specimen and getting it seated so that Mother nature can water it in over the next few wet weeks.

We try to plant 25 trees a year over here in Fennville. After the Chicago fire in 1871 the western forests of Michigan were cut down to rebuild the city. We live next to 30 acres of forest that is beautiful but still missing all the hardword trees that used to be there. We decided to start to put the hardwood trees back year by year. If everyone in American devoted one hour to planting a tree in the spring what a difference it would make!
