You have to love a modern hand knit. Two glorious bands of richly hued recycled cashmere yarn in a simple knit and purl configuration and you’ve got it! The Halfsies Scarf by Hiromi Glover for Purl Soho knit up in their Echo Cashmere. Now that the Fall chill is upon us and the holidays are not too far off it might be a good idea to get couple of these on the sticks. One to give and one to keep seems appropriate. No More Puzzles, Please

Still, sheltering in place may have you looking for a project that will keep your hands busy and take your mind somewhere other the ever changing news. It might be time to learn a new skill or revisit and old one. This Heel Stitch Hand Towel from Purl Soho might be just what you need to occupy some quiet time and end up with an elegant end result. And, just in time for the arrival of the Polar Vortex. Purl Soho’s Swath Wrap knit up in their Flax Down and Linen Quill yarns. That color? True Turquoise. This modern combination of Merino Wool, Baby Alpaca and Linen should take the bite out of this Winter deep freeze. Bundle up people.

It’s always good to have an alternate plan. So as I anticipate the upcoming holiday weekend I have put into place Plan B…just in case. A little inspiration from a modernist weaving by textile artist Anni Albers and a few skeins of pima cotton have me set and ready to go should the weather take an unpleasant turn.

There’s still time…

to get that hand knit gift cast on, cast off and wrapped up before Christmas. Start with some giant sticks and some giant merino yarn from Loopy Mango, add the simplest knit or purl stitch and a couple of hours. Et voila….a little Christmas magic. Who on your list wouldn’t love a scarf , wrap or throw with this much style and panache? It’ll go so quickly you might want to knock one out for yourself as well.
