Who Wants Soup?

As always, my favorite cooking great never failed to impress. Marcella Hazan’s minimalist White Bean Soup with Garlic and Parsley ticks all the right boxes; simple, comforting and on the table in a half hour if you use canned beans. Make it once and it’ll find it’s way into your regular rotation for lunch, dinner and even when entertaining. Simply genius.

Color Again, This Timed Blocked

You have to love a modern hand knit. Two glorious bands of richly hued recycled cashmere yarn in a simple knit and purl configuration and you’ve got it! The Halfsies Scarf by Hiromi Glover for Purl Soho knit up in their Echo Cashmere. Now that the Fall chill is upon us and the holidays are not too far off it might be a good idea to get couple of these on the sticks. One to give and one to keep seems appropriate. You can thank me later.

Clearly I have design friends that are also thinking more color. With their always anticipated Winter Seasonal Collection, Heath and their collaborators are exploring the combination of Deep Sea Blue, Grapefruit and Butterscotch glazes as well as experimental finishes like Ribbon Candy and Nougat. It’s No Surprise

Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t like Halloween. Can’t explain it, I just don’t think it deserves the increased attention it gets every year. Maybe because I find most decorations and costumes tacky, made of plastic, produced in China and come out of hiding way too early. Then I ran across these images on Gardenista. Lovely, modern interpretations of the spooky celebration that even I approve of. I could start off with an armload of Barn Brooms from Lostine and see where it leads or maybe I’ll just grab a bag of candy corn and call it a day. What do ya think? Are you pro Halloween?
