Even after they’re spent she keeps them around… a reminder of the special connection you have. It’s a Mom thing. whtprrtsdriedFCopy of pnkpeonyf

You can smell it. Spring …the Earth waking up.Time for a big stretch and to clear out Winter’s congestion…first in your environment which will precipitate a release of your physical congestion. It’s time for some fresh air…a fresh approach…a fresh project…a fresh outlook.yelcarn6Flamb_garnista_

or take her something lovely. A big bunch of fragrant peonies would be nice. And, some candy.

Everyday flowers…

continued. Well, another day of bargains in the Kroger floral department. Glorious yellow pincushion protea ( which I think were already a good value at their regular price of $4) marked down to $.99 each.  Wha   ????  Plus the added bonus of some bear greass with each. So, here we go… simply drop them both in a taller cylindrical vase ( pottery/ glass/Pringles can) or lop off their heads and place them in the bottom of a simple on-the-rocks glass ( to be used anywhere you might have 4 square inches that needs a chic little lift, singly or in multiples…..end table, night stand, powder room, on top of a stack of books on the coffee table, your desk).  It’s no simplequietmodern secret that you can live so well on so little.

There is a Chinese proverb that is applicable here  that says ” If you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other.”

tulips have got to be my hands down favorite. Parrots, fringed, Dutch or French…there is nothing that compares in the floral world. The range of colors is unbelieveable, white being my absolute first choice if given one. The blast of the coming season they provide is always welcome ( readily available and easily affordable). It is no wonder they were more valuable than property or gold and prized by earlier Asian and European nobility.

Pull out your glass cylinder, add water, a quick fresh cut and literally drop in a bunch or two. Simple.

What a steal…

It’s amazing what $1.99 will get you when you check out the ” manager’s special” buckets in the floral dept. at Kroger. Run them home and pull out one of the cylinder vases that is a  simplequietmodern must have. Strip off the foliage and gather the heads into a tight domed arrangement and tie the bundle together with some jute twine ( or even black electrical tape in a pinch). Cut the stems so the mound sets gently on the rim of the cylinder and you are done and done. All this style for a whopping two bucks.
