Little Helper
February 26, 2018
From the design collaborative MENU, a simplequietmodern solution to an everyday task. Designed by Jan Kochanski, Sweeper and Funnel brings a little style and elegance to sweeping out the fireplace or cleaning up after a few stray coffee grounds. The hole in the handle acts as the funnel while seating the ash sweeper handle when not in use. Just a little something pretty to take the edge off your upcoming Spring cleaning.

Daily Grind
October 29, 2017
Danish architecture and design firm, Norm, has turned the process of grinding pepper upside down. By locating the ceramic grinding mechanism in the top of their Bottle Grinders they have eliminated the mess left behind on the dinner table and counter tops by traditional pepper mills where the grinding mechanism is at the bottom. Thank you. Available in sets of two, the small Bottle Grinder is available in a variety of colors and finishes, but my simplequietmodern favorites are the ash/carbon or stainless steel with light oak or walnut “lids”, which allow you to adjust the grind. And, you’re not limited to peppercorns, these grinders will tackle all types of salt, spices and even dried fruits. If you’re feeling generous you could keep one for yourself and pass one along. The upcoming holidays might be a good time to take these for a test drive.
Available through but not limited to Amazon, Menu, CB2.

sicilian potato gratin
May 11, 2012
I’ve adjusted this BonAppetite recipe using new potatoes with the skins on instead of the Russets. This simplifies the prep and gives it a slightly different texture which I love. Plan on serving this with grilled lamb chops and asparagus for the perfect Mother’s Day dinner.
