An Icon of modern Danish design, the Chieftain Chair is celebrating it’s seventieth birthday and looking as good as ever. Originally designed by Finn Juhl in 1949 the Chieftain chair was reissued in 2002 and produced as originally specified in walnut and leather. Now, a Chieftain Sofa and Footstool are also available as well as an optional oak frame. Could be a good use of that Christmas bonus, right?

Just into November and most of the country has been dumped on or been hit with an Arctic Blast. Is it just that Mother nature has a warped sense of humor or was it the early release of Heath Ceramic’s 2019 Winter Seasonal Collection that got things rolling? There’s no holding back now, the Holidays are here. Unofficially to be sure, but, they’re here. Into The Woods

To the beach…up North…or, to the shore. What does getting away this holiday weekend mean to you? To me, it’s simply enjoying a bit of peace and quiet. And, what could be more peaceful and quiet than this little black box of a retreat tucked neatly into the woods? Minimalist charred exterior, natural wood interior and every room with a view. Lovely.

Cleared For Take-Off

Picture it…1966…the height of the glamorous age of jet travel. Arriving and departing through the Jetson-esque TWA terminal designed by Eero Saarinen. It was the modern future. And, it was stunning. Now all of that MidCentury style has been recaptured in the new TWA Hotel in New York. The original iconic terminal structure is the centerpiece piece of a complex that includes not only the new hotel towers, but a fitness center, meeting spaces, a restaurant and a vintage 1956 Lockheed Constellation put into new service as a cocktail lounge. The guest rooms have been fitted with Knoll Classic furnishings including Saarinen designed pieces like the classic Womb Chair for relaxing and his Executive chair at the desk. Set to open its doors in May, room reservations are being taken now, online. Wow.
